Prize Claims & Rules

Official Guidelines & Disclaimers

1. Identity & Tax Verification (Form 1099)

To maintain strict legal compliance, any prize distribution totaling $600 or more requires tax reporting. Before the $5,000 cash prize or any major game rewards are disbursed, the verified winner **must** provide a valid government-issued photo ID and complete an IRS Form W-9. This requires supplying your full legal name, current residential address, and Social Security Number (SSN). A Form 1099-MISC will be issued for the respective tax year.

2. Publicity, Media, & Likeness Release

By accepting a prize or treasure cache from the Myrtle Beach Treasure Hunt (MBTH), the winner grants MBTH an irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to capture, edit, and utilize their image, likeness, voice, name, and interview footage. This content will be used across promotional materials, digital videos, social media channels, and future marketing campaigns without further compensation.

3. Verification & Validation of Find

To claim the bounty, the finder must present the physical, unaltered treasure token or cache container directly to the organizers. The finder must also successfully verify or demonstrate the logical puzzle-solving steps taken to decode the final riddles to ensure game integrity.

4. Disclaimer of Liability

Participation in any MBTH event is completely voluntary and conducted at your own risk. By searching for the cache, all participants assume full physical, legal, and environmental responsibility. MBTH, its owners, and its associates hold absolutely no liability for personal injury, property damage, or trespassing violations. Respect private land, follow local ordinances, and do not destroy public property.
